Ape Labs is known to "Keep it Simple" when it comes to controlling lights. A beginner with no instructions can typically operate an Ape Labs fixture within seconds of picking up an ApeRemote or opening the app. But its simplicity does not lack in features. Two of the most famous features are "Grouping" and "MusikMode".
Grouping allows the user to create DMX-Like shows on the fly by grouping any number of mixed & matched Ape Labs SKUs on up to four groups. Then being able to control groups individually or universally.
MusikMode will automatically create a music-based light show with the press of a button. It uses proprietary technology that analyzes the sound in the room and total number of Ape Labs fixtures to build a constantly evolving light show. Just don't call it "Sound Active".
NOTE: Controller and charger are not included with "SOLO" purchases.
Ape Labs lights are sold in three popular forms:

I purchased 8 sticks. XL 2.0. First impression, they are very bright and for my purposes, Mobile DJ they are more then capable of washing an big room with color. They came with two metal plates, screws to mount the plates in a permanent setting and black zip ties to affix the plates for a temporary setting. (They should include white zip ties). The response time when set in "Music Mode" is excellent. The range of colors is also very impressive. They took about 4-5 hours to completely charge. I highly recommend that you charge them as soon as you receive them. I know, first thing you wanna do is to start playing with them as soon as you get them. (I did the same thing.) They flash red when needing charge then green when fully charged. The instructions are through a QR code that you scan. Sticks XL come with ape lab stickers and a quick start guide that has the QR code. It opens up the Ape Lab tutorial. Take the time to read it. They are many setting with these lights. Pairing, resetting to factory settings and different modes. So far I am very impressed with these lights the design, lightweight, brightness and colors are the best I've seen. Highly recommend them! And thanks to KPODJ for creating a bundle pack that met my needs.
I got rid of my movers and went all Ape Labs after bringing these in. They don't have a moving head effect or anything....but with the ambiance these create, along with some Cans pointed at the dance floor and Maxi uplights, I don't need anything else. I'm able to control everything with the Connect, set up time is nothing, no need for pre-programming, load in/out is a breeze, and I get way more compliments on my lighting now than what I got when I was using movers on totems. No one is getting blinded by movers, everything is in sync, and since control is so easy, I actually control them myself while DJing and make small changes. Just hitting the music button right before a break-down in the song, then going back to normal programming, makes the crowd go wild. I just press one button, twice, about 20 seconds apart, and the crowd goes wild.
