Ordered this Cart last Spring for my Partner's heavy equipment moves on and off of HighRise rooftops. <br /> <br /> He LOVES it. Says it was really worth going top-of-the-line, with the R18RT's extra-sturdy frame & Big Wheels.<br /> <br /> The RSD14 "Companion Deck" is really worth having, too.
Instructions appeared to be generic to cover all Rock N Roller Models and my instructions dated 2012 didn't mention the R18RT. Minimal mechanical ability, a pair of pliers, and a little grease for the axled wheels is all that is needed to put the R18RT cart together. When assembling my R18RT the instruction manual diagram showed the axled wheel hub offset going away from the frame; which if followed (and I did not do) would allow the wheel to rub against the frame. I removed the friction fit plastic plugs at the ends of all the tubes and put a dab of hot glue on the plugs' stem/ribs before re-installing to ensure the plugs don't fall out over time. I was concerned that the cart could get easily overloaded, or be unsteady, or may be a little too narrow to safely transport my equipment. It has performed flawlessly and beyond expectations. I purposely took a loaded trip through the grass and was surprised how easily it rolled on grass with a 180lb(ish) load. I've found pushing the cart from the swivel wheel side easiest so the larger axled wheels are in front. The R18RT is great improvement in saving my time and energy compared to using a heavy duty two wheeled dolly as I have for the past forty years. I now get everything I need to/from the venue in one or two trips as compared to at least five or more trips with a dolly. I expand the R18RT to max length and use it as long patform cart which is configuration #6 of 8 possible configurations. The R18RT can easily hold my Yamaha Tyros 5-76 in a Rhino Hard Case, (2) Yamaha DXR15's, Home Depot/Husky 37" Mobile Job Box, and odds and ends in carry cases. The max so far it has carried is 275lb(ish) and I feel it could carry more provided the operator(s) (unlike me) feel they can safely start/stop/steer a larger weight. I purchased a bulk pack of assorted length flat bungees (which I never knew existed) at a popular farm supply chain store and am quite happy with flat bungees' abilities to securely hold the loads and not dig into anything or the cords slip-n-slide on the cases like round bungees cords have. The R18RT lockable swivel wheels are great for holding the cart in place while loading it (and struggling to slide and load something on it !!) The cart folds down to transport size quickly and easily. If used to haul multiple smaller pieces (1' by 1' or so or smaller) I could see where the "deck" would be a nice advantage. I did order the Grip N Gaff Jumbo Bag which goes over the handle so I can carry smaller odds and ends in it without having to bungee them down or risk them falling off. Oh, KPODJ's VIP Pricing on the R18RT including shipping was below that of the big online retailer named after the famous South American River. Do some math and price out what a Rock N Roller investment will cost you per gig over five years. You will not regret it.
I received my Rock N Roller R18 after a 2 week delay in shipping from the manufacturer. I have used it a couple times for my music gear (keyboards) and it has been working great. I use an 88 note weighted keyboard in a case, as well as rackmount gear and speakers. I needed the 60" roller to fit the case for my keyboard. Works great!
