The redesigned software introduces powerful creative tools for programming detailed lighting sequences. Super Scene allows multiple scenes to be combined along a timeline for precise synchronization, while the advanced FX engine supports effects across different channel types. A built-in 3D visualizer provides a preview of programmed lighting looks, helping operators refine shows before connecting or activating fixtures. The drag-and-drop patch grid and 2D position view further simplify fixture organization and effect programming.
For live performances, myDMX 5 includes a dedicated Live Mixer with convenient controls for dimming, color changes, strobes, and blinder effects. Live Playback rotary controls allow adjustment of scene intensity, speed, phase shift, and effect size. Scenes can run forward, backward, or in alternating directions, with programmable segments triggered through GO commands or BPM synchronization. Music synchronization features include tap tempo, MIDI clock, Ableton Link, and line-in audio response, making the system particularly useful for DJ performances, concerts, and music-driven productions.
The hardware interface features ten scene-trigger buttons, two 3-pin XLR DMX sockets, two 5-pin XLR DMX sockets, USB-C connectivity, and an RJ45 Ethernet port. Standalone operation allows playback of up to 99 stored scenes across five pages without requiring an active computer connection. A supplied 256MB SD card provides memory for stored scenes. The hardware includes 512 standalone DMX channels, with additional standalone channel capacity available through optional upgrades. The RJ45 connection can be used instead of USB for network communication and remote standalone control; it does not directly output Art-Net.
For added flexibility, myDMX 5 supports customized touchscreen control layouts and remote operation through the myDMX 5 Remote app for iOS and Android devices. Users can create control screens with buttons, faders, and color wheels to manage lighting from compatible mobile devices over a local network. MIDI mapping and keyboard control provide additional options for integrating the software into live performance setups.
