Here's what I had tried so far:
ADJ Snow Flurry -- GREAT unit for the money.. a bit loud, but good snow output.
1byOne Snow machine -- Inexpensive and had a good output, but cheap build and lacked the mounting bracket the Snow Flurry had. LOUD!!
Chauvet SM250 - High volume on the Chauvet was just a bunch of foam. The snow effect went away past the half way mark on the volume dial.

The Antari was in a class alone compared to all of those other blowers. The quality of the build of this unit was first class. The hanging mount was very heavy duty and the chassis didn't feel like cheaper thin metal like the Chauvet units. The finish was a nice durable semi-gloss like all the Antari units which has the added bonus of making them very easy to clean. The remote had the longest cord of any of the other blowers I had tried and the power cord was a quality heavy duty cord with a nice length. It was clear that they didn't cut corners with the little things. The snow output was perfect. Usable snow across the entire dial range unlike the SM-250. The blower on the S-200x was a nice low pitch whirr, but the fan had a very strong output. The snow moved farther away from the unit compared to any of the other units I tried and the size and consistency was excellent. I could see using this unit at a wedding. I had that "search is over" feeling immediately after using this unit. This seems to be a trend with all the Antari stuff I have purchased.

So, is it worth it.. YES, if you want something truly professional and less of a novelty. The Antari is first class.

With that said, I will add that the ADJ VF Snow Flurry is a fantastic unit for the price. If a little more noise is OK and likely has a bit less life than the Antari then this unit is well worth the money. It's not a toy and might make sense to buy multiple Snow Flurries over the S-200X for the same price.

I will probably be buying BOTH the S-200x and VF Snow Flurries again the future.

Perhaps I got a bad one, but this is simply too noisy for a small theater. Despite being behind the set with the snow showing through a window, this machine is simply too loud for the actors to be heard and understood. The performance is very good, but calling it quiet is inaccurate. The dry antari fluid makes excellent snow that evaporates without a mess, but little bits of it float through the air and make everyone cough. Had to limit use to about 15 seconds at the top of the show. Sounds like a loud vacuum cleaner.
