At the time I purchased the HotStick 5 Cob II, they had the previous model pictured (with the mounting brackets on the ends). The cob II is shorter, heavier, and has a single mounting bracket in the middle. The Cob II also has improved optics with reflectors and clear glass whereas the earlier version had translucent white plastic lenses. Overall I am pleased with the unit. Two of them provide enough light to illuminate an 8-piece band. However, the previous unit could be mounted on top of a lighting T-bar and still be adjusted to shine down; the newer unit cannot be adjusted downward if it is mounted on top of a T-bar so it must be mounted to the side putting its weight off-center and requires a sturdy, well-anchored mount.
