ACTIVE COLUMN LINE ARRAY
Steeped in classic Italian design and acoustic expertise, VERTUS has been created with the aim of extending true line array technology, an undisputed success in the field of professional audio, into a new range of applications within both the live and fixed installation fields. The column system is compact and elegant, with a refined yet functional design. Most importantly it offers an uncompromising quality capable of successfully solving applications where conventional systems are inadequate.
Compared to a traditional two-way speaker, the sound is distributed in a much more uniform manner into the listening area, regardless of whether the application is indoors, outdoors or acoustically difficult in terms of reverberation. The cylindrical wave front of the CLA projects sound forwards in a very precise and coherent fashion without the reverberant performance that is typical of conventional speakers which can excite environmental reflections, directing acoustic energy where it is not needed, especially towards the ceiling and floor. Even acoustic feedback such as that generated by microphones is rejected to a far greater extent than a conventional enclosure.
Finally, the columns narrow dimensions allow the discreet, unobtrusive integration of the column into any environment.
The qualities of the system CLA can be summarized as:
High-end sound quality with a frequency response of 33Hz to 20kHz, designed specifically for live
Improved dispersion within a set listening area plus extended projection
High power performance and dynamic range thanks to the tri-amplification system
Portability and modularity – elements can be rapidly daisy-chained via a quick release system, extending both the vertical directivity and sound pressure level
Design and elegance for easy integration even in the most demanding installations – the compact dimensions ensure listeners will focus on the sound and not the speaker!
Wide horizontal dispersion

The Q118SA is a newly designed, extremely powerful subwoofer, capable of delivering extremely high SPL and guaranteeing significant low frequency extension. The optimization of the woofer load volume and port tube with BEM finite element simulation, and the careful development of the grille and the protective fabric to minimize acoustic impedance, has led to a net improvement in performances as compared with previous models. Equipped with an high excursion ceramic B&C woofer with 100mm ventilated coil, it has negligible power compression, ensuring maximum acoustic pressure even after hours of continuous use.
The supplied 1200W RMS class D amplifier with switching power is equipped with a digital signal processor with entirely new algorithms.
Equipped with 6 presets, each of which is not only associated with a different equalization – to tailor the subwoofer response to various usage conditions – but also with different dynamic processor calibration to extend the maximum acoustic pressure to very high levels, with no deterioration of the original signal. This ensures absolute configurability of the sound obtained, great flexibility of use and above all an impressive SPL/size ratio.
The 18mm birch plywood cabinet is equipped with 4 aluminum handles and two M20 stand supports, suitable for use on either the short or the long side. It is compatible with MITUS 206 and MUSE 210 systems in ground-stacked configuration, and is designed to allow 4 optional 100mm wheels to be fitted. An exceptionally powerful and versatile subwoofer that can be combined with a wide range of FBT speakers.
The presets include:
ORIGINAL: general preset, suitable for the majority of uses. Low pass filter is set at 95Hz, peak limiter is adjusted for getting the perfect balance between high SPL and low distortion
DEEP: this preset extends and boosts subwoofer low range to approx. 40Hz. Low pass filter is set at 95Hz, peak limiter is extremely fast and guarantees to remove almost completely the distortion due to amplifier clipping. This necessarily causes little reduction in maximum SPL. Generally recommended for applications requiring extremely pure sound and maximum low frequency extension.
PUNCH: Preset providing maximum power concentration in the 60 – 95Hz frequency range. Perfect for rock music and high power applications. Distortion is slightly higher, since it is less limited by the peak limiter, while sound pressure level increases. Low pass filter is set at 95Hz.
INFRA: Similar to DEEP as for the extension and absence of distortion. It differs for low pass filter setting at 75Hz. This allows for ground-stacked use of the subwoofer in applications featuring also a flying subwoofer. Thanks to the all pass filter for phase alignment, the frequency overlap in the 50Hz – 75Hz range for the two subwoofers is perfectly in phase.
CARDIOID REAR ORIGINAL 1 FRONT: preset to be used in systems with two subwoofers; select the ORIGINAL preset on the speaker oriented toward the audience.
CARDIOID REAR ORIGINAL 2 FRONT: preset to be used in systems with three subwoofers; select the ORIGINAL preset on the two speakers oriented toward the audience.
I was going for RCF 8004 as but don't have enough money for a pair, the salesman gives me advice to try FBT Q118 SA . I pulled the trigger for these and I am more than happy. Last month I traveled to New Jersey and took a time to go listen to RCF 8004 SA to see if I am loosing something compare to Q118SA, seriously I love my Sub. RCF 8004SA is a good Sub but I prefer my Q118 SA sound. Thank you
Pick up a pairs of Q118sa last week and then have them played at the wedding for 300 people. You can't go wrong with these subs.
These knock... plain and simple. Not many folks know about FBT - awesome, Italian-made stuff. Comparable to the RCF 8004 (but a little better sounding imo), Tom recommended these and I could not be happier. They hit true 30hz which you feel in your chest, and when you get your hands on these you will experience true quality. I have used lots of subs over 20 yrs in biz (yorkville, ev, cerwin vega, qsc, rcf) these stand at the top.
Beast mode!!! Best sound I own period!! FBT does not disappoint. They are in their own league by themselves. Quality build and sound. Worth your investment.
Best sound !!!
I really wanted to go with the RCF HD-6’s as I do both Dj and live events! Unfortunately, they are out of stock but after talking with Tom, I was had questions about the RCF NX-24L’s and he leaned me towards the FBT Vertus CLA 406.2A’s. I’m kind of a speaker snob, I’ve purchased many speakers, sold many of them off as I didn’t like them. The most recent sell offs were the JBL SRX815P’s , these were probably the most well reviewed speaker online and I couldn’t stand the way they sounded, That said, my Arsenal of go to speakers are all RCF, minus the subwoofers (have too much invested in the JBL’s SRX 828SSP’s to “give” them away). So, I dropped the money to order the FBT’s! I had buyers remorse almost immediately thinking about how many other speakers I could have purchased instead of these for the price. They were shipped but unfortunately the trucking company that brought them to Colorado, had no labor’s to unload these trucks, Even though they were in Denver I had to wait another 16 days until they unloaded the trailer. I picked them up at the dock got them home and plugged in immediately! I had my phone playing music through them in the garage and needless to say, I did not like the way they sounded! For the money I spent, I guess I expected a lot more, I was very disappointed. The true test of these speakers was a rockabilly band at a small festival of about 1500 people. I arrived early to test these out with a JBL SRX828sp on each side of the stage and I was blown away! I was surprised by the clarity, volume, and throw of these speakers, I went back to the trailer and broke out another pair of 828sp subs and man it was pretty! Just one FBT per side with 2 subs per side sounded phenomenal! I have nothing to really compare the FBT’s to but it sounded WAY better than two JBL SRX815P per side that I would usually put up for these type of events. I will get the occasional compliment for the way an event sounds but that night I was bombarded with compliments! The sound was even steven everywhere I walked with my ipad, the tops were just amazing, I can’t say enough about these things. A little FYI, I was a little concerned in the beginning because the temperature outside was 101 degrees and the speakers were in direct sunlight! I wasn’t sure if I was going to have an issue with these shutting down because of the heat (or the subs). The band started at 5:00pm and these speakers were extremely hot to the touch, but in the end it was all good. I’ve never heard FBT speakers before and man they sounded good! They are scalable but I don’t think I would really need anything more than just one per side. Now, I’m thinking I need to go with the FBT Subwoofers, if the tops sound this good the subs have to be way better than the JBL’s, thanks a lot Tom!
: Very glad to hear this about these speakers. We have been wanting to hear them for a while now . By joining this group and website I was able to confirm that if I can make it to their warehouse they will set up a pair of these with the subs as well as a pair of LD44G2’s . We might end up with one LD system for smaller gigs. But use the others for our larger shows. It’s for live music shows
