ADJ myDMX Buddy is a scaled down, entry level version of myDMX 2.0. Out of the package, myDMX software will run in limited mode (No 3D visualizer, Easy Remote or Midi features). if you're new to DMX (like me) and don't need or not ready for all the bells & whistles MyDMX 2.0 provides then this is a great introduction into the DMX world. 256 channels out the package is more than enough for my fixtures. Also, you can upgrade to full 512 anytime, plus a few other upgrades as well. Very easy to learn. I'm very satisfied with this dongle. Great bang for my bucks!
I have been using mydmx for over 4 years and if your looking for a easy to learn dmx controller software, this is definitely the way to go. Very impressed by it.
I had been using an off brand dongle that was similar to the DMX Buddy (the sushi dmx) and the programs it came with were not user friendly and prone to crashing. I watched some great videos online of mydmx, especially the scene builder and effects generator, and I was convinced. This is the best dmx purchase I've made, I can make amazing scenes with movements, fades, chases, and anything in between in seconds without sliding any faders. Definitely a must have if you're using dmx!
Totally amazing product at first when I seen it I was a little bit skeptical of it because I have had problems in the past with devices that are small and have small connectors like that does with the Micro USB breaking off on the device inside or the cable goes bad and have to replace them often. <br /> <br /> How ever this product was built like a good old locomotive sturdy work horse that will work for many many years to come. I am super glad I found this product and will definitely be purchasing more over the years to ensure I have enough to cover my 5 Universes worth of DMX lights.
Simple to use. Being that I was just getting started with DMX it was exactly what I needed. I've had mine for over a year now with no issues. My only complaint would be the ability of the micro USB to slip out since the piece is not mountable.
I've had some problems with compatibility of Chauvet fixtures. I have the Gigbar 2 and FX Wash lights. Both have 3 different channel modes with anywhere from 3 to 23 controls. The Mybuddy Dongle Library indicates that these fixtures can be used with all the channels but when I patch them in I only get one or two selections, thereby limiting what I wanted to do with the item.
