The On-Stage SMS7650 is a heavy-duty studio boom microphone stand designed for positioning microphones securely around recording equipment, performers, and large instruments. Its adjustable main shaft, long boom assembly, counterweight, and weighted caster base provide the reach and stability needed for demanding studio applications.
The On-Stage SMS7650 combines substantial reach with a heavy, stable base for studio microphone placement. Its main shaft adjusts from 40 to 82" through three independent sections with locking tension knobs, making it suitable for both conventional microphone positioning and elevated placements.
An 82" fixed-length boom extends the stand's horizontal reach and locks into position using a 40-tooth clutch. A sliding 7 lb counterweight helps balance the boom when supporting microphones farther from the stand's center of gravity.
At the end of the main boom, a 7" mini boom with a Posi-Lok clutch provides additional positioning control. This makes the SMS7650 useful for applications where precise microphone angle and placement are important, including overhead recording, large instruments, drum setups, and other studio configurations.
The stand uses a patented 17 lb weighted hexagonal base measuring 24" across. Removable casters provide mobility when needed while maintaining the substantial base support expected from a studio stand.
