After 5 years of steady weekend use, my Antari Z-1200 II had clogged up to the point of no output. I looked into buying a new heater element for it, but the cost of the Antari heater core was more than an entirely new Chauvet Hurricane 1600. I decided to give the Chauvet a try. I gave it a quick test before taking it to a gig. It worked great at home. I liked how the container was illuminated to indicate when it was warming up and when it was ready. 20 minutes into the gig it stopped heating up. It still tried to produce fog for a while before shutting the pump off. This resulted in spewing fog juice out of the nozzle since it wasn't hot enough to vaporize. I sent it back in exchange for a new one. I took it to a gig and the same exact failure happened. It stopped heating up after 20 minutes. The light stays red the whole time which means the controller was calling for heat. I suspect what's happening is the core is overheating thus tripping a safety thermal trip- much like a circuit breaker. I returned the second one for credit and went back to Antari. Fool me once... I give it two stars because I like the design, and the illuminated tank... it just need to actually work reliably. I give KPODJ 5 stars for their excellent handling of the returns.
