I have been using a pair of the speakers for about 9 months. Sound quality is unmatched for the price. Features are great and are extremely light and very portable. Only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because they do limit a little sooner than I'd like. They work great for my 150-200 person wedding that I DJ but I have added ZXA1-Sub for my larger weddings to give some added bass when the speakers limit. Must say EV customer service if phenomenal and quickly resolved a small issue I had.
Purchased a pair of these for backup and when I need more than my QSC K12's (example would be a school dance..) First, for the price, THEY SOULD OUTSTANDING! The highs are clean and the lows are deep. However, they do not drive like a 1000 watt speaker/ like the K12. They seems to limit easily, especially with low end/bass songs like dance and hip hop. That said, they're a great value for what you get. Are they a replacement for K12s? No. Are they a better product than Alto and Mackie. Absolutely.
Love these speakers! perfect for small events and back up speakers! Buying more from kpodj.com! thanks for great service
Got my second speaker from kpodj and wow blown away super fast shipping took 1 day . Speaker rocks
All around great speakers, i used to rent the QSC k12 for djing and other functions that i had. i wanted to buy a powered speaker andi bought this and absolutely love them, working on purchasing the matching subwoofers to go with the pair
These speakers are awesome!! As long as you understand their limits they will not fail you. I've seen them used as mains in a relativley small/medium space (aprox 1500 sqft) for a wedding and they sounded GREAT. A 3 peice band used them as well, and the sound was excellent. Superb high and mid-range. Low end is not bad either, just know when a sub is necessary. I mostly use them for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and additional spaces. Transporting them is very easy. They are light, crisp sounding, and versatile. Sound fidelity is very important to me, and I recommend them highly. You can still own k12s, but you should definitely try these in my opinion. Be sure to get the bags!
A local Venue let me use them to DJ a Class Reunion and I thought they sounded good! Better than my Alto 12Ps!
I have had these for a year now and I love them! I don't use them as mains, but I use them for ceremonies and cocktail setups. They have the perfect amount of inputs for these purposes. I will be getting the 15's next to back up my better mains. GREAT product!
I own multiple sets of both these and the ZLX15. These are a great mid range speakers with great accoustics and versatility. I prefer to pony up the additional $ for the 15" model. You are receiving a well constructed speaker that can thump all on its own. Great for use as a PA system in medium size venues or small scale DJ applications.
In a word, amazing. i just received these speakers and haven't even used these for a gig yet but i can tell they are going to be a great addition to my system. i purchased these powered speakers for doing ceremonies and things of that nature. Since everything i currently had was passive it was necessary to lug my audio rack everywhere i went which obviously with several amps was not an easy thing to do. Even at home with my iPad just playing random songs i was impressed with the sound quality and even the low end. Obviously this is not an 18" speaker so if you have a large venue or event you would be smart to couple with a sub and activate the HPF. I did just that the other night for a party and i couldn't believe the quality and just how hard these speakers drive! i see other reviews with people saying these clip too soon and for those people, they either aren't doing something right or are just trying to blow peoples heads off. Our normal system has 4 15" mains and 1 18" sub. i drove these 12's just as hard as my normal system to the point of the amp for the sub being at clip. These speakers still had more to go, and they still sounded amazing and clear even pumping that hard. The amp i use for our sub is a 1500 watt peavey and it gets bridged to a single unit so don't think it is quiet. As i stated, i have not used these at a gig yet so they haven't seen any road use, however i sincerely look forward to testing these in the field as i think they will do more than what we needed to! i think these could easily be primary mains for weddings and things of that nature as long as you use a sub! They look fantastic too! EV has always been top notch and I am super glad i invested in these incredible speakers! The only other thing i need to say is BUY SOME! And of course don't forget your covers!! These are too pretty not to protect!
Bottom line is these are solid units for price. I own these along with ZLX-15PS. They have great clean sound and good output. Nice highs and lows and performance across all range of sound. Don't expect thunderous bass or huge output for large spaces. A good mid range speaker that seems well built and lasts. Priced very competitively. Would recommend.
