The JBL SRX918S is engineered to complement JBL SRX900 Series full-range loudspeakers with powerful, controlled low-frequency reproduction. Its JBL 2279G-1 18-inch woofer features patented Differential Drive technology with dual 3-inch voice coils and a dual-gap magnetic structure. This design improves thermal management and reduces power compression, helping maintain consistent bass performance during demanding applications. A large low-frequency port improves airflow and reduces audible turbulence at high output levels.
Built-in Class D amplification delivers 1,100 watts of continuous power, while integrated DSP provides control over system tuning, processing, and protection. JBL LevelMax limiting uses advanced excursion-control algorithms to help protect the driver without unnecessarily compromising output. A rear-panel LCD provides direct access to essential settings, allowing operators to configure the subwoofer without additional external processing equipment.
For larger sound reinforcement systems, the SRX918S supports both omnidirectional and cardioid configurations. By arranging cabinets in supported configurations and selecting the appropriate DSP presets, users can tailor low-frequency coverage to the venue. Dual Ethernet ports with Neutrik etherCON connectors enable networked control through HARMAN HControl and JBL Performance software, making the system suitable for scalable installations and multi-cabinet deployments.
The enclosure is built from reinforced 18mm plywood with a black DuraFlex protective finish and two integrated recessed handles.
