The Ape Labs 2.0 and 2+ series may look the same on the outside, but there’s a big difference inside. The new Ape Labs 2+ series features upgraded internal hardware designed to support an exciting lineup of future software updates. While both the 2.0 and 2+ models perform identically right now, the 2+ models are built for next-generation features rolling out in 2025 and 2026—including advanced AI enhancements that elevate real-time music analysis and automate lighting effects far beyond the already impressive capabilities of Ape Labs’ iconic MusikMode.

The renowned Ape Labs MusikMode stands unrivaled in the industry. With zero programming required, a single button press effortlessly synchronizes all Ape Labs products in the room (regardless of SKU) to collaborate and create a constantly evolving light show perfectly timed to the music. This isn't the typical "sound active" mode you've seen before; it's a genuine light show that would challenge even a professional lighting designer to replicate through DMX programming.
Not a fan of DMX? No problem. While all Ape Labs lights come equipped with wireless DMX receivers, most users prefer controlling them with the intuitive iOS/Android app or RF remote. These control options allow for easy grouping, where multiple lights (regardless of SKU and with no limit on quantity) can be set to one of four groups. You can change colors, adjust brightness, set programs, tweak speed or strobe settings, and more—all without affecting lights in other groups. Additionally, you can control multiple groups simultaneously. With the app, you can create scenes that allow all groups to be independently set with just the press of a button. (To use the app, "Connect" is required and sold separately.)

Ape Labs lights are sold in three popular forms:
"SOLO": Only the light itself, without the remote or power supply. Additional accessories are required to use your light. ApeRemote and/or Connect can control an unlimited number of Ape Labs SKUs and are compatible with every product. USB power supply or USB battery bank is required to power fixture.
"SETS" (such as a "Set of 2" or "Set of 4"): Include the universal remote and enough power supplies for all of the lights in the set.
"PACKS" (such as a "RoadPack" or "TourBox"): Include the universal remote, a case or bag, and a way to power all fixtures.

The LightCan SE is an awesome light. It puts out the same light as the ApeLight mini, but is incredibly versitile with 2-3 lens options. The charging flight case is very well built and definitely rugged enough for standard use. The foam holding the twelve lights is very snug to the lights (they will not rattle around at all). It has space for twelve lenses, two remotes, the charging adapter, and the wall-plug cable. The barrel plugs fit perfectly and snugly into the fixtures at the bottom. My only, minor, issue, is that some of the wires running to the charging ports can be seen at the very bottom of the case. These wires are well insulated, so no safety issue. At 15 pounds, the case itself is relatively light compared to the strength. The ApeRemote is great and easy to use. It's the size of a credit card and the buttons have good feedback. Having RF over IR is invaluable for a medium venue. If you have a large venue, it's worth purchasing the WAPP. I'd love to get more groups, but that's a different issue. Much easier to use than programming DMX (and I enjoy DMX programming). The LightCan SE itself puts out a great amount of light (but obviously not as much as the ApeLight maxi). Works great for scrim or just plain wall lighting. The versitility of the 2-3 lenses (if you've purchased the 10 degree lens kit) is great. They come with the 65 degree effect lens and 170 degree frost filter. The battery is included in the fixture. I've yet to exhaust the battery life of one to see how many hours of charge it holds, but based on the reviews I read, the twelve hours or more is accurate. It's super light at 0.86 pounds, meaning that when you use a charging flight case, the whole package is only a bit more than 25 pounds. It's very well built overall. MusikMode looks great (and better when paired with a WAPP). The preset chases cover most of my needs, but I can still DMX them for very specific uses. The only way you could be disappointed is if you need slightly more power in the light, and if that's the case, look at the ApeLight maxi instead. Definitely recommend this product!
There are so many applications for these lights that I cannot begin to write them all out. These cans come with 2 sets of lenses that you can use them on anything from a wall to your facade. The battery on these lights are also well as I was able to use them for 2 shows before I had to even think about charging them up .
Great addition to our growing band lighting arsenal. Take your time to charge them, update them, etc. ahead of use. My first gig was last night, wonderful experience using WAPP to control 24 lights using the frosted lens, positioned around the stage in three groups. I'm starting to wish that the WAPP app could be controlled via MIDI, which would make it "playable" along with the band. I'll be getting a case of the Maxis next. Absolutely love the new Ape Labs version on the Light Can, Battery powered and no wires and pretty cool remote. This will go well with my Ape Labs Sticks. Thanks KPODJ for making the buying experience painless.
I replaced all my lights with Ape Labs. The ecosystem is as good as Apple's. And the build quality is amazing. I'm a huge fan. I have Minis and Maxis for uplights and ceiling washes. I just got 6 of the Cans because I primarily use them with the swivel balls to point down at the dance floor and add texture to the ground. I also have some Sticks for eye candy.
These are a great addition to any uplighting. They throw a different light than the Maxi's do. Once you go battery-operated, you will never go back to plug into the wall uplights. Bride & grooms love the color options for these.
These are super versatile. I bought most of the accessories because sometimes I use them as fill uplights (between my maxis), sometimes I use them as dance floor effect lights, sometimes to wash a cake, sometimees for pinspotting, and sometimes behing my facade. Swapping lenses/optics makes these a game changer.
These make my facade look awesome. They are killer lights and they sync with my maxis, which is awesome. I've also used them for pinspotting with the attachment.
