The sE Electronics sE8 Supercardioid Capsule is an interchangeable true-condenser capsule designed for the sE8 pencil microphone system. Its focused supercardioid polar pattern provides excellent off-axis rejection for improved source isolation, making it useful for close-miking instruments in studios, live environments, and complex recording setups.
The sE Electronics sE8 Supercardioid Capsule gives existing sE8 owners another polar-pattern option without requiring an additional complete microphone. The capsule attaches to a compatible sE8 microphone preamp body, converting the microphone to a focused supercardioid configuration.
Its handcrafted true-condenser construction uses an ultra-thin gold-sputtered diaphragm designed to respond quickly to musical transients and reproduce subtle detail naturally. Each capsule is individually tuned for consistent performance and a smooth, balanced response.
The supercardioid polar pattern concentrates pickup toward the front of the microphone while providing strong rejection of sound arriving from the sides. This makes the capsule particularly useful for drums, percussion, acoustic guitar, brass, orchestral instruments, and other sources where reducing spill from nearby instruments is important.
Once installed on an sE8 microphone body, the capsule works with the microphone's existing electronics and controls. The attenuation pads, low-cut filters, phantom-powered electronics, XLR connection, and metal microphone chassis are features of the sE8 preamp body and are not built into the standalone capsule.
