ChamSys GeNetix GN2 Description

The ChamSys GeNetix GN2 provides reliable Ethernet-to-DMX conversion and network data distribution for professional lighting systems. Its two RDM-enabled DMX ports support both input and output operation, allowing the device to convert Art-Net or sACN data into DMX signals or receive DMX data for network distribution. Compatible with lighting consoles that support industry-standard Art-Net and sACN protocols, the GN2 can be integrated into a variety of lighting systems. Configurable DMX timing parameters, including refresh rate, break time, frame time, and mark-after-break, provide additional control over DMX communication.

Designed for straightforward setup and operation, the GN2 includes an onboard display and encoder for local configuration, an integrated web server for remote management, and configuration support through compatible ChamSys MagicQ and QuickQ consoles. A front-panel PIN lock helps prevent unauthorized changes to device settings. The GN2 also functions as a USB interface for MagicQ PC systems, unlocking MagicQ Core Mode when connected through USB-C or a network connection. This enables additional software functions, including scheduled events, remote control, automatic playback startup, and full-screen operation.

Advanced data-management features make the GN2 useful for installations where dependable lighting control is essential. DMX Fallback allows fixtures on a single universe to be connected in a loop for redundancy, helping maintain DMX communication if one cable in the loop becomes disconnected or damaged. Configurable merging options include Highest Takes Precedence (HTP), Latest Takes Precedence (LTP), and IP address-based source selection. The node also supports storage of up to 10 scenes captured from incoming Art-Net or sACN data, with scene playback available from the front panel, integrated web server, or compatible consoles. Configurable behavior for lost network data allows the device to hold the last DMX values, stop DMX output, or output zero values.

For expanded system integration, the GN2 supports synchronized DMX output through ChamNet when used with MagicQ consoles, helping reduce visual tearing across lighting fixtures. Power can be supplied through its PoE-enabled Ethernet connection or USB-C port, reducing the need for separate power supplies in supported installations. The compact housing measures 4.92 x 5.23 x 1.73 inches and weighs approximately 1.87 pounds, making it suitable for placement near lighting fixtures, mounting inside equipment enclosures, or installation directly in a truss system.
