Peavey PVXp12 (PV PVXP-12)
PVXP Series Speakers:
Weather this is 10’, 12’ or15’ two way PVXp, the real difference is the horn – the Quadratic Waveguide Horn. Speakers have a driver and a horn. The horn not only guides the driver’s pattern, but adds distortion to the high frequency. It’s like putting your thumb over a running hose. The water goes farther, but the water gets distorted. This distortion gives your audience ear fatigue. This unique and patented Peavey horn design has the lowest horn distortion. Giving you the best High frequency in its class. It also has a pattern of 30 degrees downward, so folks right in front of you can hear everything and 10 degrees up so the HF does hit the ceiling which can cause your voice to sound mumbled.
The Driver in the PVXp is the RX14, which has a 1.4” diaphragm. The bigger the diaphragm the lower in frequency it goes to meet the woofer, giving the speaker system better midrange and vocal quality. Although most speakers in its class and even twice the price have a 1” exit horn, most other diaphragms are smaller than the RX14.
PVXP Plug in Modules
The PVXp12 and 15 have modules for them as well. There is a 3channel mixer so you can have up to 4 mic or line inputs as well as a 15 band EQ to EQ the speaker to the room.
Power Rating
The amplifier in the PVXp is based of the incredible IPR2 series amplifiers and has 800 (REAL) watts of clean power. But the important spec to know is the PVXp series can play up to 127dB – your ears start to hurt at 116dB! Don’t worry about the power rating, worry about how loud it can get without distortion. The PVXp series can get real loud with clean power and the best high frequency on the market.
Powered speakers are the way most of us do small PA systems these days. The problem is always finding a well designed speaker with a reliable power amp. Lets face it most speaker companies do not know much about amps and most amp companies do not have the ability to produce a speaker that is properly designed for their amp. If you want something that sound great and is going to last very few companies have the experience and expertise to produce that.

Fear not Peavey have been producing amps and speakers for longer than most companies have been in existence.

The New PVXp 12 is the latest powered speaker from Peavey the style of this speaker is really impressive. The design is based on the Impulse 12P the much more expensive enclosure. The PVXp 12 is much more affordable enclosure that covers most small PA applications.

The input section features a combination XLR and 1/4 input and an XLR and TRS output are provided to connect directly to another powered speaker or Sub. One thing I really like on this product is the placement of the handle this handle is perfectly balanced for carrying the enclosure.

The amp in this speaker produces 850W plenty of power for chest thumping bass for a Mobile DJ. The horn used is Peavey patented Quadratic wave guide and puts the highs exactly where you need them with 100 degrees of horizontal spread but a tight 50 degree vertical spread. That means if you put this speaker up on a stand the highs will project too the back of thew room but not kill people in the front.

If you were looking for an affordable enclosure made by a company with a reputation for both power amps and speakers look no further the PVXp 12 is here!
These were recommended to me by Tom a while back, but because these weren't available anywhere locally for me to listen to I looked at other brands instead. I've never really paid any attention to the Peavey lineup because I only see them in Rock N Roll type of applications. I mainly play latin and hip-hop type of music so I figured these wouldn't work as well for my application. I WAS WRONG. I purchased my first pair this summer after listening to them at the DJ EXPO in AC this summer. I'm very impressed. There solid and sound great. My clients love the clarity and over all sound of the speakers.

I was going to purchase a pair of EV's recently and decided to get another set of Peavey's instead. I went from dismissing Peavey completely to being a big fan. Good job guys!

Just Got a pair of these yesterday, and I spent weeks reading reviews and watching videos. Almost got the 15s but the sales staff sold me on the 12s...And I'm very happy with these,,Peavey has always made good stuff, and the PVXP12s are no different. These are clear at all volumes, I got the PVX Sub to go along with them and I've not got it hooked up yet but I'm sure it going to be the Thunder Of The Gods!! If your looking for Power Speakers Your Look Is Over The PVXPs are the most bang for your buck...Trust Me Buy These and try them out, If your not amazed buy the Volume and how clear these are send them back...But don't worry you wont be sending these back,,they are Keepers For Sure..By the way 5 Stars,,,I love these.
mike drews: I've had these for a while...And has never let me down...PVXP12 are great..And with a sub they are all your ever going to need...
