These Speakers are top notch! I will be using them as fills with my DZR315s for live sound. I have used Yamaha back in the 90's and thought they were okay but quickly went to other high end brands. BUT these DZR speakers are the high end brand now for my local company. Thanks to the input from NEXO these are top tier speakers that out perform many others at a great price!
Excellent speakers. I have used these in an intimate 200 seat theater for small music groups and have been impressed with the sound quality. Very clear. I just used them for a small outdoor festival mounted over DXS18 subs. Wow. Easily got 110 dB at 50 feet. I also had two DXR8 for front fill. I would happily use this setup for 500-600 people. Very happy with purchase.
I already own a pair of DSR112s which are a very good speaker that provides high output and tremendous bang for the buck. When I read the specs on the DZR12 being 5 db louder and going much lower than the DSRs I was skeptical as specs are often inflated but decided to give them a try. KPODJ was awesome in getting these out to me so quickly. At first I listened to only one. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one speaker sounded like I had a sub running with it. This is by far the best sounding 12 and a horn speaker passive or active that I have ever heard. When I ran both speakers together it brought a huge smile to my face. I listened to EDM, HIPHOP, ROCK and JAZZ on them. The clarity and headroom was truly stunning. The sound of instruments and vocals were amazingly detailed. It was what you hear out of boxes costing 3 to 4 times as much. These definitely have the low end that is not designed into the DSRs. Depending on type of music these can easily give you ALL the sound you need without subs for up to 200 people indoors. These speakers are so good that you can easily hear the difference of MP3s encoded at 320KBit rate and an actual CD of the same track. 320 Kbits is good but you really notice some of the detail missing in the music when you AB it to a CD of the same song. Look no further if you need a lightweight full-range powered speaker that goes down lower than most and can get extremely loud and stay clean. These speakers do not disappoint. I plan on selling my EV ZXA5s and getting more of these.<br /> <br /> KUDOS TO YAMAHA FOR A FANTASTIC SPEAKER AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE POINT.
