These lights are simply amazing. They're VERY bright, and the individual control of the LEDs is fantastic. The built-in shows aren't all that great TBH, but that's where DMX control comes in.

I put the "weatherproof"/IP65 claim to the ultimate test when I set up a temporary custom built water show last summer that ran about 20 "shows" over several nights. Two of these units were placed in a row and used to light up 4 water jets that were synchronized to music, while I used outdoor misters to substitute for fog that was illuminated by Chauvet SlimPar 56 IRC IPs and various other IP65 rated lights. These lights held up spectacularly, and continue to work a year later even after they were subjected to water being essentially poured onto them while in operation and completely surrounded by mist (so basically 100% humidity).

These did a fantastic job of illuminating the jets of water and the crowd watching the shows were really in awe during a few parts. (I have to say it felt pretty good when two of the comments made by spectators were "It's like Disneyland" and "It's like the Bellagio.") The water jets I used went about 25ft in the air, and these lights illuminated them perfectly all the way up, and the splashes on the glass surface looked awesome, like little bright explosions of colored light.

I hope Chauvet keeps up their IP65 rated line and even expands it (thought I can't imagine the market is too huge; maybe I'm wrong). I'm planning to purchase more of their Slim PAR IP lights, and considering another one of these lights. I'm not a professional DJ but more of a casual DJ/hobbyist more in line with the DIY Christmas community and providing lights shows for events mostly for family and friends. It might be hard to incorporate water (safely) into a traditional DJ setup, but having weatherproof fixtures allows you to add colorful, illuminated water or mist to an outdoor show, which is something most people very rarely see except, like I mentioned before, at theme parks or in Vegas. So while my show obviously doesn't even compare to the 200-400ft+ jets used by Disney's World of Color or those at the Bellagio, it still lets you create a true spectacle that people will remember and talk about (I've begun working, an people have asked me about, this year's show). Just make sure you follow all safety measures when combining water and electricity! EVERYTHING has to be waterproof, not just the light fixtures (all connectors, etc. everything must be IP65 or better IP68 (submersible) until you're well out of range of any mist or water splashes. All power cords must ultimately be plugged into GFCI-protected outlets, etc.)

I did experience a problem with one of my units: it would flash white when turned on then nothing else; no display on the panel (this was a DOA situation, NOT caused by water damage. The units are still working fine after being subjected to a lot of direct water jet blasts and 100% humidity with the misters). Anyways I contacted Chauvet and their customer service was decent, but they resolved the issue and I now have a working unit. (Note: I didn't know about KPODJ before but I'll definitely make any future purchases of these lights here )
