These EV ZXA-1 speakers are awesome for small events, cocktail hours, ceremonies, karaoke, and much more. You can actually use them as your mains for medium size events, but you will definitely need a good sub or two to go with them.

They are very crisp and clear sounding. They only weigh 19lbs. If you buy the EV CB-1 bags with them, you can snap the two bags together and wear two speakers like a 38lb backpack (which isn't bad and frees up two hands). The only problem is that they do not produce much bass. The ZXA1's are only 8" speakers, so you can't expect them to. For the size, they produce a respectable amount of bass, but not enough to use as mains without a sub or two (if you want to stick with a real compact system, the ZXA1 Subs match up well).

If you want to use them as mains for a 100+ person event, my recommendation would be to run them in high-pass mode (button on the back) and get a full size sub or two to run with them. The mids and highs are super loud, so they will keep up with a full size sub.
Thanks for your question, We have not increased the price on these.
